Yellow Wings turns heads at Plane Pull

The Ottawa International Airport Plane Pull took place this past weekend, 11 Sept. It was a return of summer for the one-day event that is held annually to raise money for local charities. This year, Vintage Wings was brightly represented with two of the Yellow Birds on static display - Tiger Moth and Harvard. The contribution is a further extension of the new-formed partnership between the two organizations who share like values in promoting fundraising, and showcasing great aviation heritage and accomplishments.

Pilots Blake Reid and Ulrich Bollinger arrived early Saturday morning with two volunteers, Sean Martin and Wanda Kowalski. Together the four chatted with spectators about the upcoming 18 Sept air show and answered questions including the most popular request, "How do you get a flight in one of these awesome planes?"

It was truly a unique opportunity to not promote the Membership Drive and Sponsored Ride Program, but we also reached a whole new target audience, many of whom never knew we even existed. That's about to change. During the noon-hour break, hundreds of car windshields were targeted with Vintage Wings Air Show pamphlets. Let's see if we garnered any interest?
